I'm so tired! We had a blast last night stamping! We stamped, we laughed, we talked, we ate! It's so wonderful to get together with friends.
This all started when I was cleaning up my craft area and came across the swirl. A big sister from SCS had given it to me and I finally found a great card to put it on. They made the card go together quick and easy.

Serenity
Yes, it is Wednesday. Half way through the week. And tonight I get to stamp with some friends! So on that note, I'm posting something totally different than the cute kid/animal track I've been on lately. My middle daughter is somewhat obsessed with anything Japanese. She wants to learn Japanese next year. Eep, I could help her with Spanish, but I'm going to be totally out of league on that one. I remember a few words from college (yes, I also wanted to learn Japanese at one point) but not enough to be able to help her out too much if she gets stuck. This card was from a set I bought and never used (except for this one image) It has since been passed on to another fellow stamper, who will give it the love and use it needs.
Card deets: Cardstock- basic black, real red, whisper white and retired gold from Su. Stamps- Oriental brushtrokes, and Kanji (even though you can't see it in this pic). Inks-basic black and versa mark, image was colored with chalk. Accessories- corner rounder, paper piercer, yellow crystals, fiber and chinese coin

Coffee, gimme coffee
Tuesday. A day that will live in infamy. Not really, just a double dentist day. Crown repair for my dh and our middle daughter. They have been doing really great at not having to see the dentist (other than cleaning) for a several years. But to get this at the same time...ouch. Also my eldest turns 21 today. Wah!!! It seems that she was just a cute little baby a few days ago and we were bringing her home from the hospital...first time parents not knowing what to do.
Been loving the cold winter weather lately. I bought this set just before it retied and haven't really used it as much as I thought I was..of course SU kept coming out with more cute sets. I know that I've used this card template before, but its such a great one to use, and whips up cards in a jiffy!
Card Deets: Cardstock- Blue bayou, soft sky, real red, whisper white. Inks- palette noir black, basic black, image colored with copics and su markers. Stamps- Polar Bears (SU), Baby, It's cold Outside (My Favorite Things). Accessories- paper piercer, red stickles (heart on mug), grosgrain ribbon.

Get Well Wishes
Augh! Can you believe its Monday already? Where did the weekend go? It went way to fast. I did get a little stamping done, not as much as I wanted to. For some reason had trouble getting in the groove. Any way, I had stumbled across this card on SCS and knew I had to case it. If I find a cute, fast card..yup, going to try to case it. Have a great Monday..see ya tomorrow.

A day at the beach
A quick simple card, wishing for warmer weather for a friend. I'm loving the cold and was loving the wee bit of snow we got. Finally opened my guava paper. Dh and I went for a date night last night, it was so nice to be able just to sit and talk. We definately ate too much.

For you my Friend
Itty bitty card here. I'm still trying to use at least one stamp from every set I have. This is a small version of Beate's sketch(31). As I was cleaning my room I found this cosmo cricket dp. Oh, I thought let's see what I can match with it.. hm, dewdrops of course, primas that a secret sister had sent long ago, crystal brads and of course stickles. The sentiment says hello, it might be too dark to see it. I'm so glad it's Wednesday! Halfway through the week. Weekend means more stamping! : ) Also this weekend is the NHL All-Star game in Atlanta!! Our fav team has 2 guys that will be playing.

Let it Snow!
It has been so cold here lately. But that has put me in the mood to pull out my old winter stamps and give them a chance to see ink. Yesterday was MLK day and we took school off. I got to stamp most of the afternoon and got through most of Season 2 of Stargate SG-1. Back to reality with school and work today.

Be Mine
Well another weekend whizzed by. Poof! There it went. My dh and I screamed ourselves hoarse watching the NY Giants and Green Bay Packers game last night. What a game. No, we're not normally big football fans (well not that much anymore) but our hockey team had already played ( and lost..boohoo) and we needed our sports fix. It was so strange to wake up to snow on the ground! Not much, but enough to let us know how cold it was outside. Our church had already called everyone the night before cancelling services (yup, if they feel there is going to be ice, everything shuts down), so we spent a quiet Sunday. I got some stamping done., so have something to share for the next couple of days.

Brr!
Weatherman predicted snow. So far nothing but rain..but its cold out there!! I have to brag on my dh. I have the bestest handiest man around. There isn't anything that has broken yet around the house or on the car that he hasn't been able to fix! So 3 cheers for him!! He fixed our tv after a week of the blue screen of death!!

Forever in Blue Jeans
When you think of comfort, you think blue jeans. A nice faded pair that fit just right. You've been through thick and thin together. When you get home from a stressful day, you change out of your work clothes and put them on. I saw this scrap piece of jean paper and had to make a card that screamed comfort.
It goes along nicely with the SNOW! we had yesterday. It was beautiful while it lasted and dropped enough for the kids to throw a few snowballs. By evening, it had been replaced by rain, but we could say we finally got some after a couple years of none.

Fast & Easy 2
So, this is where I got that scrap of ribbon from Monday's post. Sunday was a day of utter bliss. I got to play in my stamp room for most of the afternoon. I started out with one card idea (yesterdays) and after I finished looked around thinking hm, so starting digging in the file folder that had left over dp and found this funky watercolor blue and thought, I do need a few sympathy cards on hand.

Sunrise, Sunset..from Fiddler on the Roof
My eldest daughter called me on her way to a celebration dinner last night. She's engaged, she says. I hear myself say congratulations, and inside I'm thinking there is no way I'm that old! My mind has been humming that song from Fiddler on the Roof ever since. Wasn't it yesterday she was a baby, learning to walk, charming everyone? Didn't we used to dress her up like the girl above for church? Wasn't it just the other day she started school, learned to read? It's only 7 in the morning, but I think I need a stiff drink..good thing I have my coffee.

Simple and Fast
S& F works for me. I was digging through my file of left over background paper and found this maroon/purple dots from eons ago from SU. Yup, had a quiet aha moment and in less than 5 minutes threw this together. (ok, so it helped that I had a scrap of black ribbon and paper right there to, left over from another card) For the next few days I'm posting the cards with their envies. I always try to have the envies matching as much as possible.

♫ The boys are back in town ♫
Shew! Dh arrived home safely and early (he was able to catch an earlier flight) and come in bearing chocolates from Thornton's!!!! Talk about knowing how to make a girls' day. *grin*
I was so green with envy when he showed the pics of the 2 different castles he got to go tour. One was restored inside and the other was not. But wow! The pics were incredible. I'm just glad he's back safe and sound. On to the card, I'm bummed that I took such a yucky picture. I might try to go back and get a better one since you can't see how sparkly and pretty the boy is. I used glitter copics to color him and he is soo purty. Also pierced the bottom in a pattern and that didn't come out either. I guess I'm just camera challenged. shesh

The Long and Short of It
Yippee!! Dh gets home from Wales today. I want to hear all about what he got to see over there. He did mention being able to go through a castle his hotel was across the street from. I wanted to try something a bit out of my usual. This card only measures about 2.5x 6.

Hip to be Square
I love being able to stamp a bit each day! I also love the fact that I now have background noise! What am I talking about you ask? Well I'm one of those weird people that gets more done when there is more going on in the background. For Christmas my wonderful, fabulous dh got me a laptop that runs dvd's on it. So now, not only can I have the internet up with all those fab ideas, but I can have a movie playing also. Right now I'm slowly going through my collection of Stargate SG-1 episodes (yes, I am a rabid sci-fi fan and have them all) so I figure they should keep me going for a while. After that, I think I'll start in on my M*A*S*H collection (thanks Mom for THAT addiction)

Hey Sweetie
I've been so amazed that every day since New Years I have been able to make at least one card each day. I haven't posted most of them, because they were straight case's and you don't want to see that again. I made this one for my January package to my secret sister. I know you can't tell very well, but the hearts on her dress, headband and of course big heart have stickles on them. There is also a tiny pink crystal on her shoe strap. I finally used my Copics that I got for Christmas!! I was sooo nervous about using them for the first time.
Card deets: cardstock: taken with teal,dp from last spring, whisper white. Stamps retired From the Heart (I think),sentiment-papertrey. Accessories- eyelets (from stash and I have no idea where I got them, its been that long) brads from Making Memories, ribbon from Target $1 spot, stickles, window punch, CM oval, Marvy scalloped punch, paper piercer and finally white gel pen

Secret Sister round 1
This is the card I stamped yesterday for my first hello to my new secret sister. I saw the layout while I was surfing the other day and had to try it. I love the colors and the chance to use some DP. That, I think, is going to be my New Year's resolution..to try to use up as much as I can of DP and other supplies that I have hoarded.
Card facts: Cardstock- River rock, soft sky and whisper white, dp from last spring. silver brads, grosgrain ribbon, stickles (yellow) and piercing tool. Stamps- polar pals and hello from Paper Tray

Happy New Year!
Wow! Can you believe that its 2008 already? Where did this year go? We had some friends over this year for a quiet evening of cards, Wii and lots of food. We toasted in the New Year with Dick Clark and then crashed! New Years day we watched the Rose Parade. A tradition in my house for as long as I can remember. I love watching the pre-show that gives you an inside look at how those fabulous floats are made. I would love to be able to go one year. Also, the Winter hockey game was on with Penguins and Buffalo playing in the snow!! That was an awesome game watching those professional teams get back to the basics...outside..snowing, no comfortable indoor stadium. We had a wonderful pot roast and crusty bread for supper (the only one I have ever got my kids to eat) We ended our lazy (and yes it was very) watching movies. Sometimes it is just so nice to have a day like that. Where there is no hustle or bustle, just a time to recharge. I soo needed that after the grueling work days I had after Christmas.
Holiday Pot Roast:
2t. salt 1/2 t. pepper
1 t. paprika 1 t. garlic salt with parsley
4-5 bl. boneless chuck roast
3 T. flour
2 T. olive oil
2/3 cup water
2 bay leaves
2 small onions, minced
5 carrots, peeled and sliced
4-5 potatoes, peeled and quartered (or diced)
1 can Italian-style diced tomatoes undrained (14-1/2 ounce)
15-oz can tomato sauce
Sourdough rolls or baguette (optional)
Blend seasonings in a small bowl: rub into roast and coat with flour. Heat oil in a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven; add roast and brown briefly on all sides over high heat. Add water and bay leaves to pan; cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours. Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer for an additional hour. Remove and discard bay leaves. Serve with slices of thick crusty (like sourdough or a good baguette) bread. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
