Mid week

I pulled out an old card that I did several years ago. Yes, I know..bad me. ( American Idol was on last night and I didn't get to stamp) But, its close to Easter and I'd thought it appropriate. I have redone this card several times over the years. I love it best with a nice dark purple as the base color.

Top of the Morning!! Happy St. Pat's Day!

I totally forgot to post Friday! No, it's not a sign of old age..I just plum forgot. Dh smoked some chicken for dinner that night that was heavenly! I think that has got to be one of the best Christmas presents I have gotten him so far. He loves using that thing and I love how easy it makes meal time for me. *grin* Saturday got to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday! We hadn't been to an "adult"party for over a long, long time! It was incredible. Lots of food, live band, etc! And to top it off he's taking her to Vegas baby! How cool is that! Any who, in the midst of all that.. I didn't stamp this weekend! Card deets: Cardstock- Papertray Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, white and dp paper. Stamps- Women of Life (Papertray). Ink- Palette aqua mist, spring moss, black. Ah, the best part of waking up...

Is to the smell of coffee! Its the only thing to get one going in the morning. I easily gave up ice cream when I became lactose intolerant, but coffee..that one I would fight tooth and nail for. Java, java, java. On a totally different note, my eldest baby decided that she wants to get married and we met his mom last night for the first time. Discussed a few wedding plans. Mostly general chit-chat. I kept telling myself ...I can't be this old..I can't be this old. I'm in total denial. *grin* Card deet: Cardstock- whisper white, aqua mist (PTI), spring mist (PTI) and PTI dp. (pti=papertrey ink) Ink- aqua mist, spring mist, black. Stamps- Women of Life (PTI). Accessories- paper piercer, corner rounder, pearls.

Morning!!

Cue the birds singing, a ray of sunshine coming down and touching my house, deer bounding through the back yard. Yup, that's exactly what its doing right now. *grin* Anywho, I am over the dreaded horrible flu. My daughter who decided to share the experience and get it at the same time is just about well also. Let me tell you..you haven't lived until you have shared the flu bug with a teen. We were both miserable on the couch together. It was a tender bonding moment full of phlem and cough drops. A quick note to my blog candy winner...its in the mail today! I'm so sorry for the delay, but I didn't move off the couch except to use the facilities. Finally stamped yesterday. Yes!! Card deets: Cardstock-whisper white, caribeean blue, barely banana, su dp. Ink-basic black, craft white (around scallop),image colored with copics and SU markers. Stamps- saying (Papertrey Women of Life), mouse (SU Favorite Friends). Accessories- gold brads, papertrey twill, scallop punch, Creative Memories CCS oval, paper piercer, purple gems(flower centers)

Horrible!

Oh, I fought the good fight..used gallons of Lysol..but those little buggers got me. I succumbed to the flu bug last night...full force. High temps, coughing, body ache...yeehaw. I feel like death warmed over..which one has to admit is a strange feeling. I'm so sick that I don't (gasp) want to stamp (and I have new Papertray calling out to me) or surf blogs. Even the Samoan girlscout cookies my dh brought home for me didn't make a blip in my radar. Let me preference one more thing before my drug induced rambling continues. I don't get sick! I've only been to the doctor 3 times in the last 12 years. I have so totally forgotten what flu feels like. Ok, on to my ramblings.. since I feel so terrible I'm showing a card that I had previously decided not to post. I didn't feel that it was that great. It's a 3 x 3 card. A quicky. Card deets: Cardstock-barely banana, whisper white, retired SU dp. Stamps- Just for Fun (retired) Ink- basic black, image colored with su and copics. Accessories-dewdrops.
Thats it. Plain..boring...I'm going back to sleep..sorry. Have a great day all.

Drum roll!

Spent the morning driving to and from the doctors. I finally am home. We cut up 38 equal pieces of paper with the numbers and a very impartial judge, ( my dh..wondering what I'm doing) reached his hand in the bucket and pulled out #37.... Angel W! You are the winner! Please send your snail mail to :mayadiz@yahoo.com so I can send out your candy. Thanks to everyone..keep checking back. I will probably do another blog candy in a few weeks.

TGIF and TFSBC!

Yes! It's Friday and yes, its Time For Some Blog Candy! I was looking back and realized that it had been a long time since I offered some up! Shame on me..hoarding stamping supplies like that. *grin* Ok, here is what is being offered: a roll of cute green ribbon, crystal accents and an assortment (not the whole bottle) of primas...heck, I'll even through in a few more that don't match the spring theme of this candy. The catch? Just post a reply and I'll randomly pick one Monday. Good luck!

Morning

Ah, got coffee in hand and life is good. Time to start the morning. Watched American Idol last night. We don't watch too much prime time tv and we just tuned in to AI in the last 2 years. Its so funny to hear everyone in our family going around voicing their opinions after the "professional judges" get done with theirs. Do we vote? No, but we do let the kids vote for one person each time. That said, we return you to your regularly scheduled dose of stamping. Please put your tray tables in their full and upright lock position. *grin* I was surfing SCS as I am oft to do and ran across this, which again..I changed a bit. This card went together fast...love that in a card.

Card deets: Cardstock- ruby red, sahara sand, whisper white. Stamps- Embrace Life. Ink-basic black, white craft (edged around all sand surfaces), image colored with SU markers, copics and stickles. Accessories- paper piercer (ok, if I was on a deserted island and could only bring limited stamping supplies..this would be one of them), scalloped oval punch, word window punch, and ruby red brads.

Friendship

Yippee! Half-way through the week. So over the regular doctor visits. I am done being the human pin, poke, prod cushion. I'm never listening to myself again in that it would be a good idea to get a physical, women's yearly and mammagram done in the same day. What was I thinking? (actually that was one of the questions..do you suffer from memory loss? ah, no..just bad judgement some time..total brain farts) Anywho..on to the card. I have wanted this set for a while it just seemed like so much fun! Also a hint here and there to dh for another cruise..well it couldn't hurt. Card deets: Cardstock- Wild Wasabi, Brillant Blue(?), Whisper White. Ink-basic black, image colored with copics and SU pens, (saying highlighted in copic grey and popped up on dimentionals). Wow! It was so beautiful last yesterday! Warm, sunny, almost like spring. As I sit here typing I can hear the deluge of water coming from my downspout. Yup, its raining...hard! My dh was up on the roof Sunday trying to fix a leak that we've had for years and he tries to fix from time to time. (still hasn't gotten it yet) so today is another chance to see if he finally got it! Card deets: Cardstock- Lovely Lilac (wah, my last piece), papertray white, chatterbox rooms dp. Spring 2

Here's another one.. even faster than the first to put together. Same deets as the other, except this one has the matching brads.

Spring!

Thought I'd share something since I got to stamp today!! We still only have the youngest down with flu and are hoping the rest of us will be able to dodge this bullet and not get it. After lunch got to sneak upstairs to my craft room, put in Stargate SG-1 and start stamping. (yes, I have to have background noise/movie going) Here is a quick and easy card. Card deets: Cardstock- Green Galore ( I think...its the lightest one in soft subtles), pixie pink, yoyo yellow, bobunny DP. Ink-basic black, images colored with SU markers. My bad

Ever had one of those weeks? I had planned to be able to stamp this week since it was winter break, but life conspired against me. Work chomped up alot more time then I expected. Doctor appointment for a mole on my face has to be checked out. And then one of the kids comes home with the flu from a friends house. We tried so hard not to get it! I have a bunch of new stamps in my craft room that are crying, nay, wimpering to be inked and used. Ideas jumping around in my head that have to come out. I'm too busy running around Lysoling everything, washing linens, running to the store for more sprite and tissue. Augh!! Life..ya gotta love it. I'm putting my foot down tomorrow and getting some stamping done. So next week, will return you to your regularly schedule dose of cards. (knock on wood)

Lucky Monday

Sorry so late to upload today. Did I get to stamp this weekend? Nope. Did I want to? Yup. So, I threw this together this afternoon after we attempted to start cleaning out my youngest room. A daunting prospect to say the least. We have not done a 'clean out, weed out' for years. We found all sorts of fun things. We have at least got a path from the door to the bed, so tomorrow we finish and vacuum and move furniture around. Then, drum roll, we head to the teenagers room for a clean out. I'm afraid the Health department or EPA will show up once we start disturbing things in there.
Card deets: Cardstock- Yoyo yellow, Garden green, Whisper White. Ink- basic black, versa mark, image colored with copics and colored pencils. Stamp set- Lucky Me! (retired). Accessories- ribbon, paper piercer, ticket punch, gemstones, slit punch.

Friday...medic!!

Ah, another wonderful day after major holiday. Up at before the crack of dawn. Off to change out the Valentine day cards for St.Pat and Easter. I didn't get a chance to stamp anything to day. I can barely move after changing out over 15,000 cards. (give or take a few) So I'm sharing something I did a while back. Sorry, will have a fab card later in the weekend or Monday. I'm hoping to get some stamping done Sunday after feeling comes back into my extremities.

Happy Heart Day!

Hope that you have a good one. Its going to be a quiet one here. We usually don't go out and do things on the day of major holidays, we usually wait a day or so and then go. That way less wait to get a table and less crowds. I'd thought I'd share a quick easy card today. I need to step away from the copics for a bit and go back to quick and easy. Card deets: Cardstock-really rust, river rock, chocolate chip, apple cider dp. Inks- really rust
Stamp-True Friend, saying from Text Box (papertrey). Accessories-paper piercer, copper brads, river rock grosgrain and circle slit punch

And then...friday day hits and I have to change over everything to St. Pat's and Easter. Any who.. this is the moose that started it all for me. It's an old stampedous stamp I got years ago. Easter..it's closer than you think

I was thinking about doing an Easter card and pulled out this set from ages ago. It's so funny how last year I was trying to work my way through all the older sets and this year, I'm just jumping all over the place and using the sets I was trying to make myself ink last year. Anywho.. I love the lilies in this. Again, it doesn't show it, but the dark purple and yellow are sparkly from the glitter copics used to color them. Card deets: Cardstock- glorious green, lovely lilac, eggplant envy, whisper white, sliver of vellum. Stamps- Easter Blessings. Inks-basic black, lovely lilac, main image colored with copics, su markers and glitter copics. Accessories- ticker corner punch, paper piercer, dew drops, hodgepodge hardware and white gel pen

Happy Mooseday!

Its Monday! What a party we had Saturday night with our sunday school class! We laughed so hard!! The tiramisu turned out great! I also got this cute fellow in the mail saturday. I've been waiting ever so patiently for him to come. Our hockey team that we fanatically watch has a goalie with the nickname 'Moose', so I of course...I had to have him! (hello, the stamp, not the goalie) For some reason, this picture looks washed out, its so much more vibrant in rl. Will try to get a better pic of it later if I remember. I pulled out another Penny Black hedgie that hadn't seen the light of day either for a while. ♫ Monday, Monday ♫

Wow! What a game last night! I was screaming and yelling and cheering. I'm not a huge football fan (but will watch it if there is no hockey on), but was rooting for the underdogs New York. Our friends that came over were for the Patriots. (yes, there was a lot of yelling going on) My dh got to try out his smoker that he got at Christmas and yum!! was that whole pork loin good!!
This card was an idea from my friend Tonnia (me waves @ you). It is so cute and quick to make. (my kinda card) The bottom is stamped with red ink on the inside regular white cardstock, tear off the front edge and adhere vellum, stamped the happy valentine's day on the front of the vellum. I found the metal heart and added it to my ribbon to make it a bit different than what she did. Hope you have a great Monday!

I'm so tired! We had a blast last night stamping! We stamped, we laughed, we talked, we ate! It's so wonderful to get together with friends.

Serenity

Yes, it is Wednesday. Half way through the week. And tonight I get to stamp with some friends! So on that note, I'm posting something totally different than the cute kid/animal track I've been on lately. My middle daughter is somewhat obsessed with anything Japanese. She wants to learn Japanese next year. Eep, I could help her with Spanish, but I'm going to be totally out of league on that one. I remember a few words from college (yes, I also wanted to learn Japanese at one point) but not enough to be able to help her out too much if she gets stuck. This card was from a set I bought and never used (except for this one image) It has since been passed on to another fellow stamper, who will give it the love and use it needs.

Card deets: Cardstock- basic black, real red, whisper white and retired gold from Su. Stamps- Oriental brushtrokes, and Kanji (even though you can't see it in this pic). Inks-basic black and versa mark, image was colored with chalk. Accessories- corner rounder, paper piercer, yellow crystals, fiber and chinese coin

Coffee, gimme coffee

Tuesday. A day that will live in infamy. Not really, just a double dentist day. Crown repair for my dh and our middle daughter. They have been doing really great at not having to see the dentist (other than cleaning) for a several years. But to get this at the same time...ouch. Also my eldest turns 21 today. Wah!!! It seems that she was just a cute little baby a few days ago and we were bringing her home from the hospital...first time parents not knowing what to do.

Been loving the cold winter weather lately. I bought this set just before it retied and haven't really used it as much as I thought I was..of course SU kept coming out with more cute sets. I know that I've used this card template before, but its such a great one to use, and whips up cards in a jiffy!
Card Deets: Cardstock- Blue bayou, soft sky, real red, whisper white. Inks- palette noir black, basic black, image colored with copics and su markers. Stamps- Polar Bears (SU), Baby, It's cold Outside (My Favorite Things). Accessories- paper piercer, red stickles (heart on mug), grosgrain ribbon.

For you my Friend

Itty bitty card here. I'm still trying to use at least one stamp from every set I have. This is a small version of Beate's sketch(31). As I was cleaning my room I found this cosmo cricket dp. Oh, I thought let's see what I can match with it.. hm, dewdrops of course, primas that a secret sister had sent long ago, crystal brads and of course stickles. The sentiment says hello, it might be too dark to see it. I'm so glad it's Wednesday! Halfway through the week. Weekend means more stamping! : ) Also this weekend is the NHL All-Star game in Atlanta!! Our fav team has 2 guys that will be playing.

Let it Snow!

It has been so cold here lately. But that has put me in the mood to pull out my old winter stamps and give them a chance to see ink. Yesterday was MLK day and we took school off. I got to stamp most of the afternoon and got through most of Season 2 of Stargate SG-1. Back to reality with school and work today.

Be Mine

Well another weekend whizzed by. Poof! There it went. My dh and I screamed ourselves hoarse watching the NY Giants and Green Bay Packers game last night. What a game. No, we're not normally big football fans (well not that much anymore) but our hockey team had already played ( and lost..boohoo) and we needed our sports fix. It was so strange to wake up to snow on the ground! Not much, but enough to let us know how cold it was outside. Our church had already called everyone the night before cancelling services (yup, if they feel there is going to be ice, everything shuts down), so we spent a quiet Sunday. I got some stamping done., so have something to share for the next couple of days.

When you think of comfort, you think blue jeans. A nice faded pair that fit just right. You've been through thick and thin together. When you get home from a stressful day, you change out of your work clothes and put them on. I saw this scrap piece of jean paper and had to make a card that screamed comfort.
It goes along nicely with the SNOW! we had yesterday. It was beautiful while it lasted and dropped enough for the kids to throw a few snowballs. By evening, it had been replaced by rain, but we could say we finally got some after a couple years of none.

Sunrise, Sunset..from Fiddler on the Roof

My eldest daughter called me on her way to a celebration dinner last night. She's engaged, she says. I hear myself say congratulations, and inside I'm thinking there is no way I'm that old! My mind has been humming that song from Fiddler on the Roof ever since. Wasn't it yesterday she was a baby, learning to walk, charming everyone? Didn't we used to dress her up like the girl above for church? Wasn't it just the other day she started school, learned to read? It's only 7 in the morning, but I think I need a stiff drink..good thing I have my coffee.

Simple and Fast

S& F works for me. I was digging through my file of left over background paper and found this maroon/purple dots from eons ago from SU. Yup, had a quiet aha moment and in less than 5 minutes threw this together. (ok, so it helped that I had a scrap of black ribbon and paper right there to, left over from another card) For the next few days I'm posting the cards with their envies. I always try to have the envies matching as much as possible.

♫ The boys are back in town ♫

Shew! Dh arrived home safely and early (he was able to catch an earlier flight) and come in bearing chocolates from Thornton's!!!! Talk about knowing how to make a girls' day. *grin*
I was so green with envy when he showed the pics of the 2 different castles he got to go tour. One was restored inside and the other was not. But wow! The pics were incredible. I'm just glad he's back safe and sound. On to the card, I'm bummed that I took such a yucky picture. I might try to go back and get a better one since you can't see how sparkly and pretty the boy is. I used glitter copics to color him and he is soo purty. Also pierced the bottom in a pattern and that didn't come out either. I guess I'm just camera challenged. shesh

The Long and Short of It

Yippee!! Dh gets home from Wales today. I want to hear all about what he got to see over there. He did mention being able to go through a castle his hotel was across the street from. I wanted to try something a bit out of my usual. This card only measures about 2.5x 6.

Hip to be Square

I love being able to stamp a bit each day! I also love the fact that I now have background noise! What am I talking about you ask? Well I'm one of those weird people that gets more done when there is more going on in the background. For Christmas my wonderful, fabulous dh got me a laptop that runs dvd's on it. So now, not only can I have the internet up with all those fab ideas, but I can have a movie playing also. Right now I'm slowly going through my collection of Stargate SG-1 episodes (yes, I am a rabid sci-fi fan and have them all) so I figure they should keep me going for a while. After that, I think I'll start in on my M*A*S*H collection (thanks Mom for THAT addiction)

Hey Sweetie

I've been so amazed that every day since New Years I have been able to make at least one card each day. I haven't posted most of them, because they were straight case's and you don't want to see that again. I made this one for my January package to my secret sister. I know you can't tell very well, but the hearts on her dress, headband and of course big heart have stickles on them. There is also a tiny pink crystal on her shoe strap. I finally used my Copics that I got for Christmas!! I was sooo nervous about using them for the first time.

Card deets: cardstock: taken with teal,dp from last spring, whisper white. Stamps retired From the Heart (I think),sentiment-papertrey. Accessories- eyelets (from stash and I have no idea where I got them, its been that long) brads from Making Memories, ribbon from Target $1 spot, stickles, window punch, CM oval, Marvy scalloped punch, paper piercer and finally white gel pen

Secret Sister round 1

This is the card I stamped yesterday for my first hello to my new secret sister. I saw the layout while I was surfing the other day and had to try it. I love the colors and the chance to use some DP. That, I think, is going to be my New Year's resolution..to try to use up as much as I can of DP and other supplies that I have hoarded.
Card facts: Cardstock- River rock, soft sky and whisper white, dp from last spring. silver brads, grosgrain ribbon, stickles (yellow) and piercing tool. Stamps- polar pals and hello from Paper Tray

Happy New Year!

Wow! Can you believe that its 2008 already? Where did this year go? We had some friends over this year for a quiet evening of cards, Wii and lots of food. We toasted in the New Year with Dick Clark and then crashed! New Years day we watched the Rose Parade. A tradition in my house for as long as I can remember. I love watching the pre-show that gives you an inside look at how those fabulous floats are made. I would love to be able to go one year. Also, the Winter hockey game was on with Penguins and Buffalo playing in the snow!! That was an awesome game watching those professional teams get back to the basics...outside..snowing, no comfortable indoor stadium. We had a wonderful pot roast and crusty bread for supper (the only one I have ever got my kids to eat) We ended our lazy (and yes it was very) watching movies. Sometimes it is just so nice to have a day like that. Where there is no hustle or bustle, just a time to recharge. I soo needed that after the grueling work days I had after Christmas.

Holiday Pot Roast:
2t. salt 1/2 t. pepper
1 t. paprika 1 t. garlic salt with parsley
4-5 bl. boneless chuck roast
3 T. flour
2 T. olive oil
2/3 cup water
2 bay leaves
2 small onions, minced
5 carrots, peeled and sliced
4-5 potatoes, peeled and quartered (or diced)
1 can Italian-style diced tomatoes undrained (14-1/2 ounce)
15-oz can tomato sauce
Sourdough rolls or baguette (optional)

Blend seasonings in a small bowl: rub into roast and coat with flour. Heat oil in a heavy saucepan or Dutch oven; add roast and brown briefly on all sides over high heat. Add water and bay leaves to pan; cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours. Add remaining ingredients, cover and simmer for an additional hour. Remove and discard bay leaves. Serve with slices of thick crusty (like sourdough or a good baguette) bread. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
